The future of General Motors will be electric. After finalizing the production of the Chevrolet Impala in February, the automaker is making electric vehicles the focus of its Detroit-Hamtramck facility.
The switch to electric vehicle production has required a $2.2 billion investment from the automaker. The move to EV production will add approximately 2,200 manufacturing jobs in the U.S.
“Through this investment, GM is taking a big step forward in making our vision of an all-electric future a reality,” said Mark Reuss, GM president, during a press event at the plant with Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and other local and state officials. “Our electric pickup will be the first of multiple electric truck variants we will build at Detroit-Hamtramck over the next few years.”
GM electrification plans
The first on the production line at the Detroit-Hamtramck facility is the GMC Hummer EV. You’ll be able to get behind the wheel of the well-equipped, electrically powered pickup late next year. The Cruise Origin electric shuttle (a self-driving model) is next on the production line.
The legacy of the Chevy Impala
In 1958, the Chevy Impala appeared as the top level trim of the Chevy Bel Air. The Chevy Impala eventually broke free from the Bel Air trim lineup to become a standalone option. The Impala was a widely popular model and in 1965, it set the still current record of 1 million models sold. In 1977 and 1978, the Impala dominated sales in America, earning the title of the best-selling car in the nation.
We at Transwest Chevrolet Buick are proud of the Impala sedan’s legacy and are excited about the electric future of GM. You can obtain a pre-owned or one of the few remaining new Impalas from Transwest Chevrolet Buick.
Transwest Chevy is very excited to reveal that General Motors’ most beloved duo – the Suburban and Tahoe – are being refreshed for the 2021 model year. Interested in learning more about the updates for 2021? Here’s what we know.
Though the Suburban and Tahoe were always among the most spacious Chevrolet vehicles, the 2021 updates to the SUVs bring their interior comfort and cargo capacity to the next level. The Tahoe has been upgraded to offer 10 more inches of legroom for third row passengers than the previous generation, and also has 66 percent more rear cargo space. Maintaining its best-in-class cargo volume designation, the 2021 Suburban has 19 percent more cargo volume than the 2020 edition did.
The 2021 Tahoe and Suburban offer a game-changing Duramax® 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, making the twin Chevrolet SUVs the only full-size SUVs on the market to offer a diesel powertrain option. The most powerful option is a V8 6.2L engine with Dynamic Fuel Management that delivers 420 horsepower and up to 460 lb-ft of torque.
The 2021 Tahoe and Suburban also includes new technologies like a 10-inch touchscreen in the center console (largest in their segments), Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, a 15-inch heads-up display, Rear Pedestrian Alert, and nine camera views to help with trailering visibility.

Chevy recently announced the all-new 2021 Tahoe and Suburban. Both models will elaborate on the previous model year’s reputation for accommodating passengers and hauling cargo. The 2021 Tahoe and Suburban will come with new tech and features, and it will provide more cabin space and better driving dynamics than previous versions.
“We’ve taken what people love about these pioneering SUVs and made them even better – adding more room for people and cargo, more advanced technology and an unrivaled driving experience,” said Barry Engle, executive vice president and president of General Motors North America.
According to the announcement, the upcoming Tahoe has 66 percent more cargo room behind the third-row seats, while the Suburban has 19 percent more maximum cargo space behind the first-row seats. Third-row passengers will also get 10 more inches of legroom in the new Tahoe.
Both models will also deliver a smoother, more cushioned ride thanks to available Magnetic Ride Control technology paired with a first-in-class Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. The latter system yields up to 4 inches of ride-height adjustment and load-leveling at each corner of the vehicle to better absorb the bumps you encounter on rough roads.
Other updates include five available display screens for enhanced infotainment options, 30 advanced safety and driver-assist tools, and a best-in-class amount of nine camera views system for safer and simpler towing. Chevy has also extended these models’ powertrain options to better suit demands. You can choose an all-new efficient 3.0-liter Duramax® turbo-diesel engine or the more potent 6.2-liter V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management that churns out 420 horsepower.

For over 100 years, pickup trucks have been a mainstay of the Chevrolet lineup. The modern Chevrolet Silverado can follow its lineage all the way back to the 1918 Chevrolet One-Ton. To celebrate a century of trucks, Chevy created its Truck Legends program, which is an exclusive group of the most loyal Chevy truck owners.
Chevrolet officially started the program at the State Fair
of Texas in September 2016. Since that time, the group has grown to over 60,000
To become a part of this legendary group, you have to own a
Chevrolet truck with at least 100,000 miles on the odometer or have purchased
or leased more than one new Chevy truck in your life.
Once you are an official Chevy Truck Legend, you will
receive a welcome package that includes an exclusive cap and Legends decals
that you can put on your truck. You may also get special invitations to special
Chevy events. All Truck Legends members are invited to share photos and stories
about their trucks in the member gallery.
The Truck Legends program can also help you save money with
special discounts from a variety of Chevy partners. You can also purchase
exclusive Truck Legends merchandise.
If you want to join the Truck Legends program, come talk to us at Transwest Chevy Buick to find the perfect Chevy truck for your lifestyle.
Chevrolet stepped onto the desert race scene back in 2017 with its Colorado ZR2 driven by Hall Racing. One of the biggest benefits to entering the Colorado ZR2 in the desert races was to test its off-roading capabilities to the max. From those races, the Chevy Performance created upgrades and modifications to the Colorado that it passed onto consumers.
Now, it’s time to see what the Silverado is capable of, so the team put the Silverado to the test in the 2019 Best in the Desert Race series.
The competing Silverado was an LT Trail Boss model with a 6.2-liter V8 and 10-speed automatic transmission capable of 420 horsepower. Modifications were limited due to its entry as a 1200 Stock Class so the suspension, underbody, and safety equipment couldn’t be over-amplified. But the performance team was able to gear it up with long-distance suspension, front and rear jounce shocks, and a set of high-capacity, prototype Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve.
The Silverado Z71 is already a durable and reliable off-roading truck, so it will be exciting to see what innovations the races will produce to make even better Silverado trucks for the future.
One desert race can put more wear and tear on a truck than most owners will experience in years of use, so you can rely on the trucks you buy at Transwest Chevrolet Buick to be more than capable for your needs.
Pickup trucks are everywhere, so it can be hard to stand out from the crowd if you want a unique truck. One great way to have a truck that looks different from everybody else’s is by choosing a special edition model.
Chevrolet recently announced that the 2020 Silverado 1500 will be available with two of the most popular special edition packages, Midnight and Rally Edition. Both of these flaunt unparalleled designs.
The Midnight Edition is available on the LT Trail Boss and the Custom Trail Boss trims. It adds a 2-inch factory suspension lift and the Z71 Off-Road Package. That equips skid plates, 18-inch painted wheels, and an automatic locking rear differential. As the name implies, the Midnight edition will have an all-black look with black Bowties, black exhaust tips, black off-road assist steps, black bumpers, and a black grille.
For a Silverado with a sportier look, choose the Rally Edition. It is available on the Custom and RST trims and is available in Red Hot, Silver Ice Metallic, Black, or Summit White exterior paint. Its unique styling includes a body-colored grille, black Bowties, black Rally stripes on the tailgate and hood, black assist steps, and black exhaust tips. The look is completed with 20-inch black painted wheels.
The seven-passenger Buick Enclave SUV gets a refresh for the 2020 model year, and one major addition is the new Sport Touring package. The 2020 Buick Enclave ST package gives the SUV a range of styling updates for a sportier, athletic look.
The ST package includes a new woven black grille, replacing the standard diamond grille, for a more flat black appearance that really stands out against the body color surround. Plus, with the ST package, you get all the sleek styling updates of the Essence trim, including satin graphite contrast pockets and 20-inch wheels.
The 2020 Enclave also boasts new and upgraded technology, including an updated Rear Camera Mirror that uses a camera to see what’s behind you and projects it on the rearview mirror, giving you a clearer, unobstructed view for safer reversing. The 2020 Enclave will come standard with an 8-inch color touchscreen and will offer available connected navigation.
The Enclave makes plenty of luxurious features standard, like heated front seats, as well as new comfort tech on higher trim levels, like the new massage feature on the Premium and Avenir trims. Available heated second-row seats, unique Pitch Slide for easier third-row access, and power-folding third-row seats.
The time is finally here: The new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is finally available at Transwest Chevrolet Buick. With a bigger body, stronger engines, and lighter weight, this Silverado aims to continue the model’s legacy of a capable, durable, and long-lasting pickup truck.
A new turbodiesel engine. All-new for the 2020 model year is a 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine, which produces 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This engine can tow up to 9,300 pounds and has a maximum payload of 1,870 pounds, which will help meet up to 90 percent of your light-duty towing needs.
Better technology. Trailering just got easier with the 2020 Silverado’s class-leading available 15 camera views. This allows you to see every view imaginable when you’re towing. You can even access the segment-exclusive transparent trailer feature, which allows you to see what’s happening behind your trailer. The Silverado now also comes available with Adaptive Cruise Control-Camera to keep you a pre-set distance behind the vehicle in front of you when you’re using cruise control.
The Chevrolet crossover and SUV lineup keeps getting better, and the all-new 2021 Trailblazer is an exciting addition. The upcoming Chevrolet Trailblazer will sit between the Chevy Trax and the Chevy Equinox. This small SUV will show off modern styling, smart technologies, and a unique personality.
Advanced driver-assist safety features come standard in this all-new SUV. Each version of the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will have Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Additional driver-assist features will be available as upgrades, including Rear Park Assist, a High Definition Rear Vision Camera, and Adaptive Cruise Control. These advanced tools use cameras and sensors, to watch for potential collisions and accidents, warning the you of emergencies.
The array of standard safety features makes it even easier for drivers of the Chevy Trailblazer to relax behind the wheel and enjoy a confident, smooth ride. Plus, drivers who love a sporty look can give their 2021 Trailblazer a sharp design with the RS trim level, which will add a standard two-tone roof.
The all-new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer should be arriving at dealerships like Transwest Chevrolet Buick in early 2020. We’re looking forward to getting to know the newest addition to the lineup.
