Earlier this year, editors at Motor Trend pitted the industry’s four most popular midsize trucks against one another: the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, the 2019 Honda Ridgeline, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma, and the 2019 Ford Ranger, a returning truck to the segment. Absentees included the GMC Canyon and the Nissan Frontier.
In this Motor Trend midsize truck testing, the editors noted that, though they usually disagree to some degree, they were unanimous on the ranking of these four trucks. In last place was the Toyota Tacoma. The Ford Ranger managed to grab third while the Honda Ridgeline ranked second. Unsurprisingly, the 2019 Chevy Colorado was the top dog after serious testing that included city driving and hard work on a farm.
Motor Trend editors appreciated that the Colorado functions both as a daily driver and work truck. It’s powerful, it’s efficient, and it’s fun to drive but has a functional bed.
One of the editors commented in deadpan humor, “It’s like these guys [Chevy] are truck-building experts or something. Not hard to remember why this is a two-time Truck of the Year.”
The 2019 Colorado, which is America’s most fuel-efficient pickup truck and offers best-in-class towing, is available now at Transwest Chevy Buick.
