The All-New 2019 Silverado Medium-Duty Lineup

Chevrolet released the 2019 Silverado Medium-Duty lineup, the first class 4,5 and 6 Silverados in 10 years since the company’s Chevy Kodiak. Although the trucks aren’t expected to be delivered until later this year or early 2019  Transwest Chevrolet Buick is currently taking orders for your fleet! The all-new Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD have been called the “most customer-focused medium-duty truck” and  “the Silverado on steroids”.

So how do the medium-duty Silverados differ from the Ford and Rams in the market? General Motors saw the opportunity to complete a commercial line-up for Chevrolet by creating a truck from the ground up with a heavy focus on what commercial and fleet buyers need in order to have a successful business.

When it comes to owning your own business with a small or large fleet there are many challenges that one can face along the way. Employee retention, maintenance, the cost of upfits, and having the ability to customize the vehicle to suit your needs. These are just a few factors that play a part in choosing the vehicle that will help your business be successful which General Motors capitalized on with this lineup.

To help with the cost of upfits the Chevrolet Silverado 2019 has frames that are smooth and factory painted. These two features make upfits less costly and easier to configure while the factory paint extends the lifetime of the frame.

In addition to the cost-effective frame set up, the new medium-duty Silverados have seven cab to axle options with five axle to back lengths (in 8-inch increments). This allows business owners to easily customize the bodies (dump bodies, rollbacks, freight boxes, flatbed) that they are putting on the frame without having to pay for extensions.

With the drivers and employees in mind, the 2019 Chevrolet medium-duties were built to be the most powerful, highly maneuverable and connected truck in the market.

  • Factory installed rear air suspension reduces the wind noise and harsh vibrations for a smooth ride.
  • Allison Transmission with power take-off options
  • Duramax diesel engines with 350hp and 700 torque and GVWs from 15,000lbs (class 4) to 22,900lbs (class 6)
  • Onstar, Commercial Link, wireless phone charging, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth, Apple Carplay/Android Auto.
A lightweight, front-hinged “clamshell” hood, combined with a 50-degree wheel cut, allows easy “walk up” access to under-hood components

The 2019 medium-duty Silverados have a tilted hood which allows easy access to the engine bay. The engineers behind the scenes also duplicated a design feature of a very unlikely source, the Chevrolet Camaro. The “flowtie” feature on the Camaro was added to the truck to allow more airflow to the engine.
